Position Summary

We are searching for a Sr. Design Manager – Footwear Color to focus on and elevate Footwear Color Design.  The Sr. Design Manager – Footwear Color will be responsible for leading a team of designers who build and apply color across all footwear categories. This leader will be instrumental in research, palette building and application strategies for the brand. We’re looking for an enthusiastic and collaborative leader who is dialed into color, trends, sport culture and can lead from concept through execution.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Build strategy for our footwear color concepts.
  • Manage and develop a team of Footwear Color Designers.
  • Be a key partner in developing colorways that align with our greater color strategy.
  • Collaborate with product leaders and merchandisers to create go-to-market concepts.
  • Lead color design workshops and reviews offering insight and inspiration to the greater team.
  • Provide product conceptualization and alternatives that meet the needs of the footwear as outlined by footwear merchandising and the product brief.
  • Ability to push the boundaries in Footwear color, think outside the box and bring unique ideas to life.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • Attention to detail and experience multitasking and working under tight deadlines.
  • Passion every day to design compelling and cutting-edge product.
  • Solid understanding of construction and materials; preferably well versed in manufacturing techniques.
  • Strong taste level when it comes to color theory, color application and trends.
  • Strong presentation skills and comfortable working with a group.
  • Must be detail oriented, able to prioritize tasks and to successfully meet multiple deadlines
  • Experience managing a team of various levels
  • Ability to teach, train, and coach teammates

Education And / Or Experience

  • BA, BFA or BS in Color, Apparel, Graphic or Industrial Design preferred
  • 10+ years of experience preferred
  • Advanced user of Adobe Creative Suite

Other Requirements

  • Location: This individual must reside within commuting distance from our Portland, OR office.
  • Return To Work Designation: 2 days a week in-office, the remainder of work week remote.
