Purpose of Role

Under Armour is seeking a Global Tax Manager to join its Global Headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland.  This is an ideal opportunity for a self-motivated, passionate, flexible, and focused individual to join a skilled and passionate global tax team.

The main responsibilities of the role are the preparation of the global quarterly and review of the US annual income tax provisions in accordance with US GAAP ASC 740 Accounting for Income Taxes, preparation of the Company’s forecasted effective income tax rate to be provided to the CFO and Corporate FP&A throughout the year, the drafting of technical tax reporting and analysis for internal and external stakeholders, and assisting with various aspects of the Company’s North America corporate income tax compliance process. 

The Global Tax Manager will report directly to the Senior Manager of Global Tax

Your Impact

  • Preparing the Company’s quarterly and annual consolidated (US and International) GAAP and Non-GAAP accounting for income tax provision
  • Drafting of tax disclosures and schedules for inclusion in the Company’s 10-Q/K filings
  • Providing audit support and answering questions to facilitate the completion of the financial statement audit
  • Preparing the Company’s global effective tax rate for inclusion in all monthly, quarterly, annual, and long-range planning forecasts
  • Understanding, executing, and detail reviewing intercompany calculations 
  • Computing the impacts of uncertain tax positions and tracking the Company’s cumulative reserve position
  • Developing strong working relationships and serving as a resource to key stakeholders with an emphasis on internal Controllership, Legal, Treasury, Financial Planning and Analysis, and Human Resources departments and external tax advisors
  • Overseeing the reconciliation of all tax general ledger accounts performed by global teammates
  • Preparing statutory income tax provisions to support the drafting of local financial statements and the completion of local audits
  • Assisting with annual US income tax compliance via the preparation and review of PBC deliverables and tax adjustments to be provided to the Company’s third-party tax preparer
  • Reviewing tax returns drafted by the Company’s third-party tax preparer 
  • Drafting and reviewing audit support for federal and state income tax audits
  • Reviewing estimate and extension calculations
  • Performing tax research relating to specific tax issues or tax planning opportunities
  • Executing on high priority assignments and projects efficiently and accurately 
  • Responding to sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism
  • Assigning and reviewing work to/from staff and seniors reporting into the Senior Manager, Global Tax. 
  • This role does not have direct employee supervision responsibility.
  • May include training employees and/or consultants relative to certain projects.
  • Oversight of external tax advisors and consultants
     

Qualifications

  • Proficient knowledge of US GAAP ASC 740 Accounting for income tax required
  • Proficient knowledge of FIN48/UTP required
  • Proficient knowledge of 162(m) limitations and the US tax treatment of equity compensation preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint required
  • Ability to analyze, and interpret tax laws and regulations, technical guidance, tax journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations and apply and communicate the implications to internal stakeholders
  • Strong Communication skills.  Able to express facts and ideas in writing in a clear, convincing, and organized manner; listen effectively, and clarify information as needed to tax and non-tax internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives concurrently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, diverse environment
  • Detail oriented
  • Flexible with change and able to shift gears quickly
  • Team player with demonstrated ability to lead and influence others outside of direct team peers
  • BS or MS in Accounting or equivalent required
  • 5+ years of public accounting tax experience or a mix of public accounting and US multinational corporate tax department experience preferred
  • CPA or CPA candidate a plus
  • Experience with OneSource provision or comparable tax provision software preferred
  • Experience in research of tax laws, rules and regulations and application to specific scenarios required
  • Experience with SAP or comparable large scale ERP systems preferred
  • Experience with Tableau/Power Bi/Power Query/Alteryx preferred

  • Location: This individual must reside within commuting distance from our Baltimore office.

Base Compensation

 $99,444.00 - $136,735.50 USD

Most new hires fall within this range and have the opportunity to earn more over time. Initial placement within the salary range, however, is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills and experience for the position.
