Purpose of Role
The Retail Design & Development Lead is responsible for managing the new store opening and refurbishment program across the EMEA region within Under Armour's Distributor business. This role oversees multiple projects simultaneously, partnering closely with internal cross-functional teams, including Regional counterparts, Retail Design & Development, Vendor Management, Retail Marketing, Visual Merchandising, Merchandising, and Retail Operations, as well as external stakeholders such as distributors, retail partners, and Under Armour vendors.
The position ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope, on budget, and to Under Armour's quality standards. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Retail Design & Development, the role also drives continuous improvement of tools, standards, and processes to support long-term business success. Additionally, the Retail Design & Development Lead manages end-to-end store opening processes and influences key stakeholders to support effective decision-making and project execution.
Your Impact
- Develop and continuously improve New Store Opening (NSO) processes, tools, and vendor partnerships to support long-term business success and elevate the Under Armour brand in line with the EMEA strategy.
- Protect brand integrity by ensuring all store executions adhere to the latest Under Armour brand standards and guidelines.
- Manage the EMEA Distributor New Space Opening Program, overseeing new store openings and refurbishments to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Establish and manage project budgets and timelines, proactively tracking progress and addressing risks to delivery.
- Conduct Retail Design & Development (RDD) site feasibility assessments for new and refurbishment opportunities.
- Drive value engineering and operational efficiencies across design and construction projects, leveraging data-driven insights to identify alternative solutions and optimize outcomes.
- Lead and facilitate regular project meetings with distributors, internal cross-functional teams, regional counterparts, and external vendors.
- Manage and maintain the online project management platform (Smartsheet), providing accurate project tracking, reporting, and status updates.
- Oversee the supply chain for Under Armour-supplied materials, coordinating with global and regional vendors and escalating issues where necessary.
- Collaborate with and influence a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including distributors, retail partners, architects, consultants, and Under Armour vendors, to ensure successful project execution.
- Support the onboarding and integration of new distributor and retail partners, ensuring alignment with Under Armour processes and standards.
- Actively contribute as a member of the Retail Design & Development team, providing support across broader departmental projects and initiatives as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience managing retail development projects and programs within an international retail environment.
- Proven track record of leading multiple store development, refurbishment, and rollout projects across diverse markets.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, and Smartsheet; experience with SketchUp is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make informed, data-driven decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams and leadership levels.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of working independently while fostering collaboration and inclusivity within a team environment.
- Demonstrated success working in complex matrix organizations, managing multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and action-focused, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Results-driven with a positive, can-do attitude and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.
