Position Summary

The EMEA Senior VAT specialist role is a newly created role in our Finance team, reporting into the EMEA VAT Lead. As the VAT Specialist you will take the lead regarding VAT reporting filings and compliance processes to ensure timely and accurate filing and document relevant positions are taken. Next to this you will be communicating and coordinating with external advisory partners and internal stakeholders. You will be responsible for multiple European entities at Under Armour.

We’re looking for a candidate with a self-starting mentality and a person who’s able to work in a team but has a high sense of responsibilities for their job.
At Under Armour we work in a hybrid model, 2 days in the office and the possibility to work 3 days from home. Our office is located next to the Olympic Stadion in Amsterdam. 
 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

•    Support the EMEA VAT Lead in the day-to-day functions related to the management of VAT compliance duties.
•    Prepare indirect tax returns (VAT, EC sales & Intrastat reports).
•    Prepare large volume reconciliations of the VAT accounts, including Blackline submissions as per Corporate Accounting guidelines 
•    Coordinate indirect tax return submissions with 3rd party service providers.
•    Monitor compliance matters (review of VAT assessments, VAT payments, VAT refunds, audits)
•    Assist in indirect tax audits, collaborating closely with the accounting team and external tax advisors
•    Share timely and accurate information required by Local / Global Auditors 
•    Ensure timely payments and forecasts.
•    Provide business support, from answering ad hoc VAT questions to participating in projects.
•    Participate in SAP regression testing related to VAT rates changes/new implementations as required
•    Identify and manage VAT risks and opportunities.
•    Monitor and assess VAT law and VAT compliance changes applicable to UA.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

•    Strong and up to date knowledge of European indirect tax compliance.
•    Knowledge on the EU VAT directive and European E-invoicing requirements.
•    Experience with automated VAT tools preferred.
•    Experience with US owned Companies preferred.
•    Advanced knowledge of SAP.
•    Understanding and knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations.
•    Written and oral fluency in English is mandatory.
•    Advanced Excel skills and ability to develop and run reports.
•    Ability to diagnose and resolve problems; data driven; sound judgment and critical thinking.
•    Excellent analytical and communication skills (written and verbal).

Education And / Or Experience

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Fiscal Law
•    3-4 years’ working experience in European Indirect tax.
