Job Highlights

The Full Time Tailor is responsible for connecting with our customers to ensure Under Armour gear fits in a way that is custom to their needs.  They will provide flawless, high-quality, timely alterations that exceed customer expectations. With the support of the Full Time, Tailor our customers will leave feeling a unique and elevated experience at our Campus Store.  At Under Armour, this role will support in developing a tailoring program for our Campus Store and local area. The Full Time, Tailor will also be responsible for hiring, training and developing additional tailors in store. This role will support store leadership in developing overall tailoring program for Campus Store and local stores. 
We count on our Full Time, Tailor to:


•    Assess customers’ needs to provide flawless alteration support to ensure their needs are met. Take customer measurements and train the team on measuring. 
•    Detailed and accurately record customer information to prevent errors. 
•    Execute seamless high-quality hemming by providing a unique experience that meets the needs of the customer. Train the team on hemming excellence. Alter garments to improve the fit for the athlete. 
•    Train and model a first-class customer service – someone who loves customers, style and loves to train their team to do the same. 
•    Strategize and implement initiatives to personalize the shopping experience and build customer relationships and drive brand connection. 
•    Train and coach tailor teammates to provide an experience unique to Under Armour.
•    Lead and develop KPIs that support growth of the experience 
•    Observe athlete shopping behaviors and actively listen to their needs to provide suggestions on alterations.
•    Promote UA Rewards to build customer base and long-term athlete relationships. 

 

To be considered for this role, you must meet these minimum requirements: 
•    At least 18 years old 
•    High school degree or equivalent
•    Proven experience working as a tailor
•    Sound knowledge of Under Armour fabrics, clothing design & construction
•    The ability to use a sewing machine
•    Attention to detail and exceptional customer service
•    Available to work 32 to 40 hours a week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays  
•    Comfortable and/or willing to learn technology (such as hand-held and mobile devices)
•    Strong communication skills
•    Can stand, lift, walk, bend and lift cartons weighing up to 25 lbs. during each work shift with or without an accommodation
 
 

You’ll be considered a top candidate if you also have:

•    As part of the store leadership team, supports in driving sales and retail/omni -channel KPI target achievement.  
•    Provides customers with detailed information about a wide selection of products

Brand image & Customer Experience
•    Supports in training teammates to provide tailoring option to our customers
•    Uses advanced functional expertise to drive sales and customer loyalty in designated area of responsibility.
•    Uses advanced functional expertise to drive sales and Athlete loyalty
•    Trains core and seasonal product knowledge to keyholders and teammates 
•    Stay relevant with product resourcing and training to elevate technical product knowledge, as well as tailoring product with the design intent in mind

 

Retail Operations
•    Train and lead teammates in the execution of daily operations aligning with UA process and policies
•    Evaluate store tailor and payroll goals using payroll reports and tools; make scheduling adjustments to meet business needs. 
•    Builds Athlete loyalty through in-store experience, using various available applications.
•    Adhere to Loss Prevention policies and advise rest of store leadership of unusual internal or external activity
•    Assume Part-Time Teammate, Tailor responsibilities in absence of teammates.
•    Maintain and support store safety standards and communicate teammate accidents/injuries/concerns to rest of store leadership immediately.
•    Maintains work area, machine, and equipment and cleaning compounds to keep from damaging fabric throughout the sewing process.
•    Perform autonomous maintenance functions to keep equipment operating in optimal conditions.
•    Proactively engages in the prevention, identification, and control of hazards and risks.

 

Leadership & Team Collaboration
•    Communicate clear priorities, sales and KPI targets to tailor teammates to achieve target 
•    Maintain and support store safety standards and communicate concerns to store leadership.
•    Support UA strategies to drive sales and operations; observe sales trends and advise store leadership of opportunities.
 

Qualifications


•    Outstanding sewing skills. Demonstrated knowledge and mastery of sewing techniques using industrial (high-speed) equipment. 
•    Advanced numeracy, literacy, and advanced communication skills
•    Fluent in local language and basic verbal English skills
•    Proficient in use of computers and other technology
•    Adjusts to new ideas/methods of working
•    Effective independent judgement, as role requires continuous independent judgment and the exercise of technical and artistic discretion. 
•    Excellent organizational, problem solving and time management skills 
•    Knowledge and understanding of employment laws including compliance with federal, state, and local requirements
•    Advanced selling experience and comprehensive industry understanding
•    Ability to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, nights, and weekends

 

REQUIREMENTS:
•    Minimum one year experience in tailor role
•    Previous leadership experience preferred
•    High School education or equivalent
•    Availability to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, nights, and weekends

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
•    Ability to handle or relocate products up to 25 lbs./12kgs
•    Able to stand and move about for extended periods of time with short breaks
•    Ability to freely access all areas of the store; including the selling floor, stock and register area
•    While performing duties, employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.

Base Compensation

 

 $21.67 - $32.51 

 

Most new hires fall within this range and have the opportunity to earn more over time. Initial placement within the salary range, however, is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills and experience for the position.
