Purpose of Role

Under Armour is seeking a bold, future-focused Director of Corporate Communications to elevate the voice of our brand and leadership in an increasingly complex and culture-driven landscape. This role will play a key part in shaping Under Armour’s global reputation by leading strategic response, driving executive visibility, and guiding narratives across corporate positioning, social impact, and real-time issues. With a sharp eye on cultural shifts, sentiment trends, and stakeholder trust, this leader will help position UA at the intersection of innovation, athletic performance, and societal relevance. This role reports to the Chief Communications Officer, manages the corporate communications team, and partners closely with leadership, internal comms, brand comms, and crisis response teams.

 

Your Impact

  • Develop and lead a progressive, cross-platform global corporate communications strategy that amplifies Under Armour’s business priorities, brand values, and leadership voice.
  • Partner directly with the CEO/Founder, and senior executives to build authentic, high impact thought leadership profiles across media, speaking platforms, and digital channels.
  • Act as a strategic steward of Under Armour’s public reputation, leading planning and response for corporate issues, crisis scenarios, and stakeholder-sensitive topics.
  • Monitor emerging trends, competitor narratives, media sentiment, cultural flashpoints, and risks to shape and execute timely responses.
  • Collaborate with internal comms, marketing, HR and investor relations to ensure aligned messaging across audiences and functions.
  • Oversee award submissions and media moments that position Under Armour as a values-driven innovator in sport, business, and culture.
  • Manage cross-functional communications for key moments: social impact announcements, policy stances, and executive transitions.
  • Infuse brand storytelling into corporate narratives by partnering with innovation, design and sustainability leads.
  • Guide internal leadership events (e.g., town halls, all-hands, summits) to foster employee belief and momentum behind UA’s direction.
  • Support a culture of agility and creative risk-taking across the communications function - balancing strategy with sharp, rapid execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with typically 12 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with typically 10 years of relevant experience OR typically 16 years of relevant experience without degree
  • 10–12+ years of experience in corporate communications, with proven expertise in executive positioning, issues management, and media strategy.
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire teams while managing multiple projects with agility and strategic oversight.
  • Deep knowledge of reputation drivers in modern brand environments - culture, innovation, policy, diversity, sustainability, and talent.
  • Experience navigating complex, fast-moving communications challenges with clarity, speed, and emotional intelligence.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management skills; comfort working at executive leadership level.
  • A digital-first mindset with fluency in emerging channels, social listening tools, and content strategy.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills - able to craft compelling narratives across multiple formats and tones. 

Workplace Location

  • Location: This individual must reside within commuting distance from our Baltimore, MD HQ office.
  • Work Schedule: This role follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring 3 days in-office per week through September 5, 2025. Beginning September 8, 2025, the in-office requirement will increase to 4 days per week.

Base Compensation

 $148,656.40 - $204,402.55 USD

Most new hires fall within this range and have the opportunity to earn more over time. Initial placement within the salary range, however, is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills and experience for the position. UA is committed to helping our teammates succeed and advance in their careers. Base salary is only one component of our competitive Total Rewards package.
