Purpose of Role
The Director, Outbound Transportation is a senior supply chain leader responsible for shaping and executing Under Armour’s end-to-end outbound transportation strategy across all channels (Wholesale, Retail, and eCommerce) in North America.
This role owns a multimillion transportation spend and enables the reliable and cost-effective movement of product supporting multibillion annually. The Director balances cost, service, speed, and scalability while leading cross-functional partnerships and enterprise-level decision making.
As a key member of the Supply Chain leadership team, this role provides strategic direction, oversees critical carrier relationships and negotiations, and ensures execution during peak and high-risk periods. The Director also leads high-impact transformation initiatives while developing high-performing teams that drive continuous improvement and competitive advantage.
Your Impact
Strategy & Enterprise Leadership
• Own and evolve the North America outbound transportation strategy across all channels, aligning with enterprise supply chain, financial, and commercial objectives.
• Serve as a key advisor to senior leadership, representing transportation in S&OP, financial planning, and commercial forums.
• Establish long-range strategic roadmaps to enhance speed-to-consumer, cost efficiency, and service reliability across a complex distribution network.
• Drive enterprise decision-making on transportation tradeoffs, risk mitigation, and investment prioritization.
Financial Ownership & Performance Management
• Maintain direct accountability for a multimillion transportation budget, ensuring disciplined cost management while protecting service and customer experience.
• Enable execution of multibillion, ensuring operational readiness and performance consistency.
• Lead execution of key financial levers including: Rebate programs, freight cost optimization, CPC & freight as a % of revenue
Carrier Strategy, Procurement & Negotiations
• Lead North America carrier strategy, including parcel, LTL, and full truckload networks.
• Own carrier contract strategy, negotiations, and performance management, including multi-year agreements and pricing structures.
• Partner with Procurement to maintain competitive positioning through: Rate negotiations and benchmarking, surcharge strategy, SLAs, service continuity, carrier relationships.
Channel & Partner Leadership
• Act as a key partner to wholesale customers, overseeing transportation execution, chargeback reductions & continuous improvement plans.
• Drive initiatives to improve supply chain efficiency and reduce chargebacks and friction points.
• Collaborate with Retail and eCommerce teams to ensure consistent service standards and fulfillment optimization across all channels.
Network Optimization & Innovation
• Lead initiatives to enhance end-to-end outbound network performance, including speed, cost, and visibility improvements.
• Drive data-driven decision making, leveraging analytics to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
• Benchmark capabilities against industry leaders to maintain competitive advantage.
• Develop and execute a multi-year roadmap to optimize fulfillment and transportation strategy across channels.
Peak Planning & Risk Mitigation
• Own peak planning and capacity strategy, ensuring readiness for high-volume periods.
• Lead carrier capacity negotiations and holiday surcharge strategies to mitigate cost volatility and service risk.
• Proactively manage network risks, ensuring on-time delivery during critical demand windows.
People Leadership & Organizational Development
• Lead and develop a high-performing outbound transportation team, setting vision, priorities, and performance expectations.
• Build organizational capability across analytics, operations, and strategy.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement aligned with Under Armour values.
• Drive succession planning and talent development across the transportation function.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required; Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field preferred
• 10+ years of progressive experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain
• Proven leadership experience managing large teams and enterprise-level programs
• Deep expertise in transportation strategy, carrier management, and multi-channel fulfillment
• Strong financial acumen; experience managing large-scale transportation budgets and cost optimization programs
• Advanced analytical capability; proficiency in Excel, Tableau, Snowflake, and TMS/WMS platforms
• Proven ability to lead complex negotiations and strategic vendor relationships
• Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to lead multiple, high-impact initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Workplace Location
- Location: This individual must reside within commuting distance from our Baltimore Headquarter or Nashville Distribution Center.
- Work Schedule: This role follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring 4 days in-office per week.
- Travel: ~5–10%

Base Compensation
$155,000.00-$200,000.00 USD
Most new hires fall within this range and have the opportunity to earn more over time. Initial placement within the salary range, however, is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills and experience for the position.
