Purpose of Role

The Director, Women’s Train Apparel, is responsible for driving the product vision, strategic direction, and commercial growth of the Women’s Train Apparel business. This role leads the creation of consumer-relevant product assortments that connect innovation, outfitting, style, and performance to the evolving needs of the female athlete.

 

This leader establishes clear product priorities, product truth, franchise opportunities, and marketplace strategies while ensuring teams operate with speed, focus, and strong cross-functional alignment. The role partners closely with Design, Development, Consumer Merchandising, Marketing, Regional, and Supply Chain teams to deliver compelling product ecosystems that strengthen brand authority and drive long-term growth.

 

Success in this role requires a leader who blends consumer insight, product excellence, operational discipline, and commercial thinking while inspiring teams and driving executional clarity across the product creation process.

Your Impact

  • Drive seasonal and long-range product strategy for Women’s Train Apparel, balancing innovation, core, outfitting, and commercial performance.
  • Own end-to-end product creation while building scalable, innovation-led product platforms grounded in athlete validation and marketplace relevance.
  • Lead integration of innovation, materials, and construction across cross-functional teams to deliver differentiated product ecosystems and hero launches.
    • Measured by: Revenue growth, margin, SKU productivity, seasonal execution, innovation integration, franchise health, platform scalability, and marketplace performance.
  • Serve as the voice of the consumer and athlete, translating insights into actionable product strategies, assortments, and seasonal priorities.
  • Partner with Consumer Merchandising to identify behaviors, outfitting opportunities, and marketplace needs, ensuring product solutions are insight-led and validated.
    • Measured by: Insight integration into briefs, product validation, marketplace resonance, and retail performance.
  • Lead lifecycle planning, pricing strategy, and category productivity to deliver profitable growth.
  • Leverage data, analytics, and AI to inform decisions, mitigate risk, and drive continuous improvement loops.
    • Measured by: Margin, sell-through, NPD share, SKU and franchise productivity, and category profitability.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment across Product, Design, Merchandising, Marketing, Regions, and Supply Chain to deliver a unified “One Plan.”
  • Ensure disciplined execution, clear decision rights, strong storytelling, and seamless concept-to-market delivery.
    • Measured by: Cross-functional alignment, regional adoption, on-time delivery, reduced rework, and operational effectiveness.
  • Ensure product truth and consumer insights are central to brand storytelling, seasonal narratives, and GTM strategies.
  • Deliver compelling storytelling through presentations, line reviews, and marketplace execution anchored in hero products.
    • Measured by: GTM integration, campaign strength, consumer resonance, and clarity of product storytelling.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team, fostering accountability, inclusion, and strong decision-making capability.
  • Build team expertise across AI, analytics, consumer insights, and product excellence.
    • Measured by: Team engagement, talent development, succession readiness, and execution quality.
  • Demonstrate advanced fluency in AI, analytics, and digital tools to accelerate insights, storytelling, and decision-making.
  • Maintain strong product excellence, executive communication, and ownership mindset to deliver high-quality, decision-ready work at pace.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 8–10+ years of product management or related experience within performance apparel.
  • Proven experience leading seasonal line planning, lifecycle management, innovation integration, and category strategy.
  • Strong understanding of apparel construction, fit, fabrics, materials, performance validation, and product creation.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams within a matrixed organization.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to leverage data, AI, digital tools, and advanced analytics to drive consumer insights, trend analysis, storytelling, workflow efficiency, and decision-making.
  • Ability to translate marketplace and consumer insights into actionable product strategies and business recommendations.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills across cross-functional and regional teams.
  • Agility and flexibility to adapt quickly to changing business priorities and market dynamics.
  • Passion for serving the female athlete and driving innovation in performance product.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 10–15%.

Workplace Location

  • Location: This individual must reside within commuting distance from our Baltimore, MD (HQ) office.
  • Work Schedule: This role follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring 4 days in-office per week. 
  • Travel: 10-15%

Base Compensation

$165,000.00-$220,000.00 USD

Most new hires fall within this range and have the opportunity to earn more over time. Initial placement within the salary range, however, is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills and experience for the position. UA is committed to helping our teammates succeed and advance in their careers. Base salary is only one component of our competitive Total Rewards package.
