Purpose of Role

The Global Director and Head of Design will lead the development and execution of design programs within the Global Corporate Real Estate team. This role will be pivotal in shaping and scaling the companies design strategy as it grows. The Director will collaborate with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and partners to deliver innovative, functional, and scalable design solutions that enhance the company’s workspace and overall real estate portfolio. This role involves balancing strategic vision with day-to-day design operations, ensuring that both near-term goals and long-term growth objectives are met. This teammate must possess the skills and expertise to think and act in a transformational and transactional manner, constantly modulating to adapt to dynamic situations.

Your Impact

  • Lead the creation and implementation of design standards across corporate real estate projects. Develop scalable design solutions that meet the company’s evolving needs as it expands. Collaborate with executive leadership to align design initiatives with broader business goals.
  • Oversee the allocation of internal and external design resources, including managing project budgets, timelines, and staffing requirements as it relates to Design. Ensure that design projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Lead vendor selection and management for design related services. Build strong relationships with contractor, architects, engineers, and other external partners to ensure alignment with company design standards and goals.
  • As the team expands, the Director will mentor the design team that can execute both day-to-day tasks and large-scale initiatives. Foster a collaborative team environment, encouraging innovation and professional growth among the members.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders (e.g., facilities, corporate services, IT, HR, Security), to understand their design needs and ensure that. Project goals align with overall business objectives.
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously from initial concept through completion. Ensure that projects are delivered on time and meet quality expectations, while addressing any issues that arise during the process.
  • Stay current with design trends and innovations in corporate real estate. Implement creative solutions that enhanced workspace experience, sustainability, and operational efficiency.
  • Be prepared to take a hands-on role, working closely with the Corporate Real Estate team. Collectively this will support you in delivering design details, space planning, troubleshooting issues during project implementation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design or related field
  • 15+ years of experience in Corporate Real Estate Design, Retail Design, inducing team leadership roles
  • Strong project management skills with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex design concepts to non-design stakeholders
  • Expertise in vendor and contract management including experience negotiating and managing external partnerships
  • Experience with design software (e.g., Archibus, Auto Cad, Revit, Sketch Up) and familiarity with project management tools
  • Strong leadership and team building skills with the ability to develop and mentor a high-performing design team
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong knowledge of sustainability and wellness design standards

Workplace Location

  • Location: This individual must reside within commuting distance from our global headquarters in Baltimore, MD or our office in New York, NY
  • Return to Work Designation: Three (3) days week in-office, the remainder of work week remote
  • Travel: Up to 30% travel

Base Compensation

  • $165,026.00 - $226,910.20 USD

 

Most new hires fall within this range and have the opportunity to earn more over time. Initial placement within the salary range, however, is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills and experience for the position. UA is committed to helping our teammates succeed and advance in their careers. Base salary is only one component of our competitive Total Rewards package.
