Purpose of Role

Responsible for the program management of Under Armour’s global casualty claims activity in addition to driving key loss control initiatives throughout the business.

Your Impact

•    Oversee daily management of initiatives relative to the evaluation, processing, and handling of casualty claims for the company.
•    Consult with Carrier/TPA to establish timely reserves and/or provide reserve recommendations within established reserve authority levels. Identify, initiate, and manage subrogation opportunities.
•    Negotiate settlements in accordance with corporate standards and state laws in partnership with carrier and TPA as applicable.
•    Monitor claims and ensure proper execution of key risk indicators for proper claim escalation.
•    Determine necessity and selection of outside vendors (i.e. surveillance, case management, etc.) when needed for certain cases. 
•    Manage all RMIS system documentation, incident reporting and analytics.
•    Initiate partnerships with internal managers and claimants to identify light duty return to work opportunities where applicable.
•    Collaborate with Carrier/TPA and supervisor on complex claims management.
•    Negotiate coverage positions, research case law, determine applicable statutes in complex claim scenarios.
•    Oversee the response to all subpoena requests for workers’ compensation claim records, participate in hearings and mediations as needed.
•    Prepare claim review reports detailing claim status, payments, and reserves.
•    Monitor the accuracy of the monthly funding request from the TPA for payment of indemnity, medical and other expense costs involving claims. Update internal reporting accordingly.
•    Monitor trends in drivers of loss and develop reporting capabilities on the same.
•    Partner with supervisor and business units to present and drive loss control initiatives aimed to mitigate loss trend data.
•    Lead regular claim reviews with carrier, broker, and internal management.
•    Oversee the management of monopolistic worker’s compensation programs.
•    Oversee annual mailing of updated worker’s compensation statutory postings and job guides.
•    Perform other special projects and assignments as requested.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • AIC or similar designation preferred
  • Ability to manage internal and external relationships while demonstrating problem solving and decision-making skills through a variety of challenging situations. 
  • Excellent analytical abilities to review, exercise judgment, provide strategic solutions and evaluate claims to make sound decisions.  
  • Extensive knowledge of claim procedures, policies, technology, state and federal laws and insurance regulations.  
  • Handles a multitude of tasks simultaneously while maintaining focus and effectiveness, maintaining a high productivity level to maximize the productivity of the department leadership
  • Working knowledge of insurance products, policy language and market.
  • Familiarity with state-specific workers' compensation laws and OSHA regulations
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc) required, Expert user of Excel & Powerpoint.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to identify and resolve business problems within a team setting
  • Acute attention to detail and ability to manage multiple challenging projects simultaneously.
  • Time management skills, organizational skills and ability to prioritize issues and tasks.
  • Must have initiative, be able to work independently and exercise good judgment with limited supervision.

Workplace Location

  • Location: This individual must reside within commuting distance from our Baltimore, MD office.
  • Work Schedule: This role follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring 4 days in-office per week.

Base Compensation

 

 $60,000.00-$80,000.00 USD

Most new hires fall within this range and have the opportunity to earn more over time. Initial placement within the salary range, however, is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills and experience for the position.
