Purpose of Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Internal Auditor to join our Internal Audit team. Reporting to the Internal Audit Manager, this role will primarily focus on Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and internal controls testing (approximately 70%), with additional responsibilities in operational audits (approximately 30%) across all areas of the business. The ideal candidate works well in a team, is proactive, and has a strong project management and problem-solving mindset. 

Your Impact

SOX Compliance & Internal Controls Testing (~70%)

• Perform testing of internal controls over financial reporting in accordance with SOX requirements.

• Prepare high-quality workpapers and reports that meet technical and professional standards.

• Collaborate with internal control owners and external auditors to support SOX testing and remediation efforts.

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the SOX compliance program.

Operational Audits & Risk-Based Reviews (~30%)

• Support the execution of operational audits, including risk assessments, control evaluations, and process reviews.

• Conduct fieldwork, data analysis, and testing to assess efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance.

• Assist in all phases of the audit lifecycle: planning, fieldwork, reporting, and follow-up.

• Participate in special projects, investigations, and continuous monitoring activities.

 

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of auditing standards, SOX, and COSO 2013 framework.

• Familiarity with operational and business processes across various functions.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly to stakeholders.

• Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external auditors.

• Experience with audit tools, project management platforms, and control assessment frameworks is a plus.

 

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or related business field

• Preferred 1+ years’ experience related to internal/external audit or internal controls.

 

Workplace Location

  • Location: This individual must reside within commuting distance from our Baltimore HQ office.
  • Work Schedule: This role follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring 4 days in-office per week.

Base Compensation

 $63,881.07-$79,851.34 USD

Most new hires fall within this range and have the opportunity to earn more over time. Initial placement within the salary range, however, is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills and experience for the position.
