Purpose of Role
The Lead on the Global Brand Communications team is a primary driver for earned media and is responsible for supporting the brand’s external storytelling efforts around its purpose, products, athletes, partnerships and other key initiatives. This role will work alongside several other Global Brand Communications teammates to craft and support the external communications strategies for multiple categories of the business, with the end goal of positive earned media coverage. It will be essential that this individual can work well cross-functionally in the Under Armour ecosystem to gather key information and alignment needed to execute external communications. This position will also be expected to build and maintain relationships with key media outlets, regularly interfacing with media members in person at events and virtually to propel the brand and its reputation forward. Lastly, this position will be responsible for organizing and keeping up-to-date the Global Brand Communications team’s key trackers, which are living documents that serve as a reference point for that team as well as the internal and corporate communications teams as well.
Your Impact
- Oversee creation of press materials (comms plans, press releases, recaps, key messages, etc.) for assigned categories.
- Develop brand and product pitches and Newsroom stories to secure media coverage across various platforms.
- Craft editorial strategy for UA news and product releases.
- Collaborate with UA departments (Product, Marketing, Sports Marketing, etc.) to align on communication strategies.
- Build and deepen relationships with key industry media contacts.
- Manage media presence at Under Armour events and activations.
- Monitor cultural trends, especially in footwear, to identify storytelling opportunities.
- Handle inbound media requests and assist with response creation.
- Maintain and update key master media lists with latest contact info and reporter notes.
- Analyze media coverage and social/online conversations for program measurement and reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or related discipline with typically 8 years of relevant experience or Master's degree with typically 6 years of relevant experience or typically 12 years of relevant work experience without degree.
- Previous external communications & media relations experience.
- Excellent writing & communications skills, editorial planning, speed, flexibility, and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to manage multiple, separate workstreams simultaneously.
- Passion for sports, brands, culture, and people.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, confidently, and with a bias for action.
Workplace Location
- Location: This individual must reside within commuting distance from our Baltimore HQ office.
- Return to Work Designation: This role follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring 3 days in-office per week through September 5, 2025. Beginning September 8, 2025, the in-office requirement will increase to 4 days per week

Base Compensation
$108,001.00 - $148,501.10 USD
Most new hires fall within this range and have the opportunity to earn more over time. Initial placement within the salary range, however, is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills and experience for the position.
