Purpose of Role

The Visual Merchandising Manager will be responsible for increasing store footfall by attractively displaying products and merchandise. Visual Merchandising Managers are also responsible for the aesthetic ambiance of the retail store in a way that maximizes profitability and involves several tasks. He or she is accountable for creating an appealing atmosphere in the retail store, aiming to maximize profitability. This role involves various tasks related to creating a visually pleasing environment and contributing to overall GTM strategies.

Your Impact

  • Overall project management, including vendor selection, timeline management, and budget CAPEX control.
  • Deliver and maintain excellent standards of visual merchandising, including designing store themes, creating the annual visual calendar, and executing displays and visual strategies.
  • Manage and collaborate with mall management and contractors throughout all stages of construction and maintenance, working closely with the constructor or general contractor. Additionally, maintain records and collect payment data to track monthly expenses accurately.
  • Train and lead team members on brand standards, creating store concepts for seasonal turnover and new store openings, and ensuring consistency of the brand theme across all branches.
  • Engage in price comparison and negotiations with suppliers to secure reasonable prices and obtain approved quotations from the manager, generating purchasing requests and orders and ensuring timely processing.
  • Liaise with department supervisors on product phase launching and themes.
  • Identify and source props, fabrics, hardware, and lighting.
  • Create design themes in parallel with the marketing calendar, including window displays, signage, in-store displays, department focal points, etc.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team in creating visual strategies and promotional events to entertain, excite, and maintain the interest of the target markets.
  • Conduct research on current and future trends in design and lifestyle, as well as associated target market features.
  • Develop and maintain a budgeted calendar for visual materials.
  • Create visual merchandising packs and a calendar to communicate visual guidelines to the VM team, including layout principles, visual dressings, techniques, etc.
  • Ensure brand branches have similar themes and displays for every visual turnover.
  • Visit branches to coach in-store visual techniques and train both sales staff and the VM team on the guidelines and execution of the visual concept.
  • Assess and dismantle visual displays in windows and in-store.
  • Determine floor layout, traffic flow, and display points, as well as product identification with respect to the current theme and product complementarity.
  • Lead and motivate team members to complete displays with high-quality standards and within target deadlines.
  • Seek feedback from colleagues and customers on the visual impact of displays and implement any necessary changes. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communications, interior design, retail management, or a related field preferred
  • At least 5 years of experience in visual merchandising with a retail business background
  • 5 or more years of supervisory or management experience
  • Comprehensive portfolio of relevant visual design work
  • Strong product knowledge and VM display standards
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and creativity, and the ability to provide well-thought-out solutions
  • Strong organizational skills to balance and prioritize work
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
