Position Summary

As an Under Armour Rookie you’ll be given a hands-on, self-driven project that makes a real business impact. Throughout the 12 weeks you’ll work one-on-one with a mentor and have access to learning experiences, such as interactive Q&A sessions with our executives and professional development opportunities with our talent advisors. With our focus on cross-functional collaboration and global mindset, as a Rookie, you get to see how your work goes way beyond yourself.

Potential Placement Areas

Backend Engineer 
Engineering Rookies will join a team focused on creating software to power the future of connected fitness.  The Backend Engineer Rookie will support our complex backend engineering systems along with our altered large legacy systems that handle millions of transactions per day. Our systems are mostly on the JVM as Scala/Finagle or Java/Spring Boot, though some legacy systems use Python/Django, Go, and Ruby/Rails. This opportunity might appeal to students with majors such as: Informatics, Computer Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Engineering. 


Hardware Engineer 
Hardware Rookies supports our team in building best-in-class custom hardware modules with custom firmware. This opportunity might appeal to students with majors such as: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Embedded Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Engineering. 


Commerce Services Engineer
The Digital Commerce Rookie will support maintaining a customer series ecosystem that host millions of customers across Web, iOS and Android.  Digital Commerce engineering works with open-source technology operating as part of an Agile delivery team and are proficient in JavaScript, Roby, Python or Java.  The Rookie will assist with projects focused on executing full lifecycle software development.  This opportunity might appeal to students with majors such as: Informatics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Engineering. 


Enterprise Data Management (EDM)
The Enterprise Data Management Rookie will join a team powering the storage, processing, integration and cataloging of UA data.  As an EDM Rookie you will work across teams to support building pipelines, services, and tools that enable both internal teammates and our integrated systems with the data, information, and knowledge to fulfill UA’s mission.  This opportunity might appeal to students with majors such as: Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Management, Data Science/Analytics, Economics or Engineering. 


Skills and Projects

Hardware Engineer   

  • Top skills our team is looking for: Familiarity with PCB and Schematic design, strong knowledge of C/C++ for embedded devices, and knowledge of biomechanics and/or exercise physiology.
  • Projects you will work on: Develop hardware/firmware for new innovation products and analyze human biomechanics and how to incorporate embedded designs.
  • Roles could be Austin, TX based.


Algorithm Engineer 

  • Top skills our team is looking for: Strong knowledge of MATLAB or similar analysis tools, knowledge of biomechanics and/or exercise physiology, and algorithm development experience, including machine learning.
  • Projects you will work on: develop algorithms for digital products to provide athletes with unique experiences and analyze human performance data sets to extract accurate and meaningful insights.


Commerce Services Engineer

  • Top skills our team is looking for: Server-side language such as Typescript, Java, Python, Ruby, and willingness to work on Typescript, GraphQL, Node
  • Projects you will work on: You will contribute to features and projects that support Under Armour’s growing e-commerce websites and platforms. This Rookie will work as part of a cross-functional feature development team collaborating with roles like Product Management, User Experience, Project Management, and Quality Assurance.


Enterprise Data Management (EDM)

  • Top skills our team is looking for: Candidates must have completed coursework in advanced statistics and have experience with at least one data science programming language (Python and/or R). Candidates should also be familiar with foundational best practices in data science. Top candidates identified by the team will be asked to complete a coding assessment.
  • Projects you will work on: Work with our enterprise data scientists to develop, test, and deploy machine learning and statistical models that provide critical insight for teammates across Under Armour (e.g., Marketing, Pricing, Supply Chain). Gain hands-on experience working with a technologies like AWS (EC2, S3, Sagemaker), Snowflake, and GitHub.  


To be eligible for our Rookie program, you must be expecting to graduate between December of 2022 and June 2023.
