Purpose of Role
The UA Protect – Regional Lead for Mexico (LATAM) is responsible for implementing strategies and training to ensure the effective execution of asset protection, loss prevention, global retail and supply chain security initiatives. This position will also have direct responsible for executing core programs and strategies relating to safety and security, theft and fraud mitigation, and operational excellence in retail stores, supply chain (inbound, outbound, warehouse setting) and corporate facilities within both Mexico and Panama.
Your Impact
- Operates as an integral part of the Retail Field Leadership team while developing and implementing UA Protect – Supply Chain, Retail and Investigations strategies for Mexico and LATAM.
- Works closely with key business partners – Operations, Accounting, Treasury, Human Resources, FP&A, Marketing, Events, Retail Maintenance, Logistics, Allocations, Supply Chain and Legal – to identify opportunities and improve profitability and operational efficiencies across all business units.
- Create and implement UA Protect policy and procedure that reflects business needs while improving teammate, customer and brand safety and security throughout the enterprise.
- Develop a strong UA Protect culture within corporate, supply chain and retail stores, by educating and influencing leadership teams and all business partners on best practices through store travel, visits, conference call participation, business partner presentations and support.
- Develop impactful reporting on KPI’s related to physical inventory, damages, cash shortages and point-of-sale exceptions that are regularly reviewed with executive leadership.
- Collaborate with HR Business Partner on defined content and outlined material to ensure adequate training from a UA Protect perspective across all business units.
- Partner with supply chain and 3PL vendors to ensure compliance and focus on physical security, product inventory integrity, transportation security and minimizing theft and fraud activity.
- Monitor compliance with relevant laws, including Mexican labor, customs, and security regulations (e.g., CTPAT, TAPA, AEO, or similar certifications), and implement corrective action and change as needed.
- Monitor daily incident report submissions via defined internal communication methods.
- Partner with the UA Protect – Investigations Team to ensure all internal and external retail theft cases are handled in a prompt, professional and efficient manner.
- Provide general consultation to drive theft deterrence, physical security, operational compliance, teammate/athlete safety, store training, POS controls and emergency response.
- Serve as point-of-contact for all local, state and federal law enforcement requests.
- Organize, update and lead business partners during emergency response situations (e.g., hurricanes, natural disasters, active assailant, and store security events).
- Support the design, selection and implementation of company-wide technology platforms (e.g., CCTV, BAS, EBR, EAS, RFID, etc.) utilized in the protection of our teammates, customers, business and brand.
- Support HR Business Partners (as needed) with investigations related to ethics and/or P&P violations across all channels.
- Conduct regular analysis of store shortage results and implement over-arching solutions for shrink reduction strategies within both the retail and supply chain.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree – Criminal Justice, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field.
- A minimum of 7+ years in asset protection with multi store and multi-site experience, 3 of which were maintained in a supervisory capacity.
- Proven ability to conduct and successfully resolve internal theft investigations and teammate interviews within the retail, supply chain, and corporate office space (with industry standard training provided by Wicklander, Zulawski & Associates).
- High business acumen with an ability to influence senior leadership and retail partners inside and outside of UA on best practices to minimize loss due to theft, fraud, waste and exposure to criminal acts.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- PC experience – MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Familiarity with various digital and IP based CCTV systems and platforms.
- Experience with POS exception-based reporting systems – building, analyzing and acting on identified concerns
- Experience working in Mexico or Latin America, with knowledge of local security challenges, customs regulations, and compliance standards.
- Partnering with third-party logistics providers and developing/executing cargo theft mitigation strategies.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced and ever-changing environment.
- Strong leadership and team management – coaching/developing high performing teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication – proficiency in English (written, verbal) and fluency in Spanish.
- Ability to identify and resolve business problems in a team setting.
Workplace Location
- Location: This individual must reside within commuting distance from our Mexico office.
- Work Schedule: This role follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring 4 days in-office per week.
- Travel: 50% travel required.
