Purpose of Role

Under Armour is seeking a Regional Controller to join its APAC Regional Commercial and Sourcing Headquarters in Hong Kong.

The APAC Regional Controller is leader of the Controllership function for the APAC region; responsible for driving collaboration with all functions across the APAC commercial and sourcing operations and with the Under Armour Global Headquarters in the United States.

The APAC Regional Controller will report to the Chief Accounting Officer in the United States Global Headquarters.

Your Impact

  • Serve as a key member of the APAC Commercial Leadership Team, providing expert accounting guidance to the SVP, APAC Commercial Managing Director and other senior leaders.
  • Act as Director and/or Officer for the Company’s legal entities across the APAC region, ensuring compliance with governance and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide accounting requirements and process development for APAC commercial and supply chain initiatives, including acquisitions, distributor conversions, market launches, customer loyalty programs, store openings, and software implementations.
  • Lead and manage the controllership function across the APAC region, covering: US GAAP and local statutory accounting, Audit execution, Customer Financial Services (Credit, Accounts Receivable, Cash/Card Application), Vendor Financial Services (Purchase Orders, Accounts Payable), Indirect Tax (VAT/GST compliance and guidance)
  • Oversee regional treasury operations, including cash movements within and across APAC countries and support global treasury and legal teams on intercompany loans and capital contributions for APAC entities.
  • Facilitate monthly closing of US GAAP and local GAAP books across all business channels (wholesale/franchise, eCommerce, retail) for 21 legal entities in 18 countries.
  • Ensure execution of internal controls and implementation of corporate accounting policies across the region and oversee filing of indirect tax returns and ensure compliance with local accounting rules relevant to the U.S. consolidated financial statement audit.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field; Master’s degree in Accounting preferred, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent professional certification required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in finance or accounting roles within a global company, or a combination of large public accounting firm and multinational corporate experience. Prior experience working for a U.S.-headquartered company is highly desirable. Proven experience managing APAC statutory audits and working across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and local GAAP across APAC countries and proficiency in large ERP/accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • Experience in financial data analysis and bridging accounting-specific reporting needs and ability in accounting technical research and forming conclusions on complex transactions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively and ability to engage with stakeholders at local, regional, and global levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced retail environment and be fexible and adaptable to changing business needs and priorities.
  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Mandarin and Cantonese is a plus.
