Purpose of Role
The VP of Sourcing and Costing leads Under Armour’s global sourcing and costing strategy for Apparel, Accessories, and Footwear. This role ensures the timely delivery of quality products while maximizing profit margins. The VP partners with Finance, Product, Development, Operations, Planning, and Supply Chain to drive key sourcing initiatives and build strong relationships with manufacturing partners across Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America.
This leader is responsible for setting the future direction of sourcing and costing, creating an AI-enabled organizational structure, and developing the sourcing model of the future – future-proofing our supply chain and protecting the brand from geopolitical shocks and market volatility.
Your Impact
Key Accountabilities
- Global Sourcing & Costing Strategy Leadership & Transformation: Lead global sourcing and costing strategy for Apparel, Accessories, and Footwear, embedding AI-driven solutions into daily operations. Design and implement future-focused organizational structures and sourcing models and drive the development and execution of 3-Year and 5-Year strategic plans (3YP and 5YP) to ensure long-term competitiveness, resilience, and continuous improvement.
- Integrated Supplier Partnerships & Relationship Management:
Build and maintain long-term, integrated partnerships with key suppliers and vendors, fostering mutual investment in innovation, sustainability, speed, and product co-creation. Collaborate on strategic initiatives and conduct regular performance reviews to ensure excellence in quality, delivery, cost, and sustainability. - Resilience & Risk Management: Adapt sourcing strategies to a landscape defined by volatility, including tariffs and geopolitical uncertainty, to enhance resilience and optimize duty and cost efficiency.
- Team Management & Development: Manage and develop a large, geographically dispersed team, fostering diversity, excellence, and high performance. Implement talent management strategies and provide mentorship and professional development.
- Cost Management & Strategic Negotiations: Drive initiatives to maximize margins and minimize costs, and implement cost-saving programs.
- Market & Cost Analysis: Provide insights on commodity trends, raw material availability, labor wages, and cost structures. Conduct market research and utilize analytics to inform decisions.
- Operational Excellence & Service Delivery: Drive operational excellence, continuous improvement, and ensure delivery of the best product at the right time and cost.
Organizational Impact and Contribution
- This role is responsible for leading sourcing and costing strategies across multiple global regions, including Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America. It involves managing complex projects and processes related to vendor and supplier relationships, strategic negotiations, market and cost analysis, risk mitigation, and operational excellence. The VP also drives digital transformation through AI-enabled solutions to enhance decision-making and streamline sourcing operations.
Communication and Collaboration
- The role demands both the improvement of existing processes and the development of innovative policies and procedures. It includes implementing AI-driven solutions, enhancing operational efficiency, and navigating geopolitical complexities to ensure supply chain resilience.
Teams and Building Talent
- The VP manages and develops a large, globally distributed team. Success is achieved by fostering a culture of diversity, excellence, and high performance. The role includes implementing talent strategies to attract, retain, and grow top talent. Ongoing coaching, training, and mentorship are integral to the role, supporting team members across multiple job functions. The VP plays a key role in building organizational capability and ensuring the team is equipped to meet evolving business needs.
Qualifications
The role requires extensive knowledge and expertise in sourcing and costing within the apparel, accessories, and footwear industry. This includes understanding global supply chain dynamics, sourcing strategies, and cost management techniques. Familiarity with AI-driven solutions and digital transformation in sourcing processes is also essential.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 12 years in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management.
- At least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Experience in apparel, accessories, and footwear industry highly desirable.
- Robust negotiation and international business experience.
- Industry expertise and risk management experience.
- Strategic thinking, communication, problem solving, team player, leadership, risk management, organizational matrix management, customer focus.
- Experience with AI-driven solutions and digital transformation in sourcing.
Additional Requirements:
- Mastery-level knowledge of sourcing and costing in apparel, accessories, and footwear.
- Familiarity with AI-driven solutions and digital transformation in sourcing.
- Extended work hours and frequent interaction with senior executives (VP, SVP, EVP, President, C-level).
Workplace Location
- Location: This individual must reside within commuting distance from our Hong Kong office.
- Work Schedule: This role is fully in office with extended work hours.
- Travel: 25-35% of the year (U.S. and internationally)
