Purpose of Role
The role works with the In-store Experience Director to develop a comprehensive strategic plan to manage the regional retail expansion in Mainland China. The Senior Manager is responsible for Leading the project management for store rollout which include the cooperation with cross function team in UA. Also need to work with external vendor and Franchise partners to manage project schedule, quality controlling, cost efficiency and design development management of all new store concept/opening/relocation/renovation projects.
In addition to overseeing store construction projects, this role is critical in:
- designing and implementing UA’s Retail construction standards and best practices based on global standard and combined with local markets’ situation, timely updating UA construction guidelines for future programs with external vendors and Franchise partners.
- selecting, validating out qualified vendors and setting up a qualified enough vendor pool to sync UA needs of new store concept development and store concept update requirement.
- providing training to vendors and Franchise partners in a timely and efficient manner
- keeping constant communication with store design team, O&O and FP teammates as well
Further to that, this role needs to work with the In-store Experience Director to do the sourcing and price negotiation with the vendor on annually base.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Successfully & timely deliver authentic, premium UA retail stores Mainland China; Maintain updated Store Construction and Opening Calendar
- Track status of all territory projects and provide regular detailed progress reports on current status of all active construction
- Troubleshoot and assess project risks and challenges (including but not limited to LL requirements, construction quality, franchisee partner demands, etc.), and propose mitigation plans; Knowing when to report to In-store Experience Director for involvement
- Develop strong relationships with Franchise Partners, and all UA nominated vendors. Act as the primary contact for these relationships
- Manage and balance Franchise partners’ needs / concern and UA design integrity & premium construction quality; Knowing when to escalate to In-store Experience Director in case of FP needs & UA requirements conflicts
- Manage all cross-function team inquiries relating to store development and design (including site selection, retail format, capacity, etc.) and effectively build alignment between cross-function teams
- Maintain cross-function communication and teamwork; timely follow up with and update cross-function teams on any changes and updates
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Constant communication with of store design/construction progress, challenges and suggestions, etc.
- Organize and archive all program relevant designs, documents, inventory, budgets, invoices, photographs and etc.
- Responsible for tracking project time line, budgets, capex, and reporting.
- Maintain and enforce UA Retail Construction Guidebook standards.
- Manage design development: ensure timely submission of quality construction set from design agencies
- Implement and monitor effective and efficient program management principles including continuous improvement, cost management, quality control plans, in partnership with JLL/SIP project management consultancy
Qualifications
- Ability to balance design, with operation needs and time/budget objectives resulting in best-in-class retail rollout
- Skilled in visual, written and verbal communication of design/construction issues
- Ability to work independently and in flexible hours including nights, weekends & holidays when required
- Ability to multi-task, proactive, organized, detail-oriented
- Be a team leader
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
- Exceptional communication and negotiating skills
- Proficient with MS office, autoCAD, Adobe, Project, etc.
- 50% Travel
Requirements
- Require a bachelor’s degree in architecture / interior design, Engineering, Project/construction management or related field
- Minimum 8 years of professional experience in project and / or program management in a retail design or development organization including management of construction documents
- Fluent in Chinese and English (verbal and written)
